Please Note:

  • Application decisions are typically relayed within two months of the deadline.
  • The subvention award requires two complimentary copies of the publication.
  • A subvention award is “not to be used to render assistance to authors in the preparation or production of the books or manuscripts… there shall be no charge against [the income] for administrative, editorial, or other ‘overhead’ expenses” which includes typesetting, shipping, storage, packaging, marketing, sales, fulfillment, or distribution. The exception to the shipping is for required complimentary copies.

  • Applications should include a copy of the publisher’s request for the subvention including the amount requested and an explanation of how the funds will be used, two readers reports, and a detailed budget. Each budget must show costs without the subvention, and again costs with the enhancements included.
  • Letter of recommendation to be provided by Chair/Supervisor or if recent PhD, academic adviser. If Press does not have this letter at time of application, the letter may be emailed to bferree@princeton.edu by the application deadline.

        • Upload two reader reports, either individually or as a single pdf. Reader reports are anonymous and should not contain the reviewer’s name. Applications for subvention of musical productions do not require reader reports.
